Welcome
Coffees Please join us at our Welcome Coffees--held on the second Wednesday of each month in the home of one of our members. Our Coffees provide the opportunity for both old and new members to get together. New members will have the opportunity to find out about the activity groups that might interest them and to select some to try out. This is a great way to get acquainted and make connections with other Newcomer members. Most of us find that it truly is “a small world, after all!” |

Luncheons Once a month, luncheons are organized at area restaurants. At times we have enjoyed English Teas or Rise and Shine breakfasts instead of luncheons to add some variety to our dining out experiences. These get-togethers offer a fun time and the opportunity to try new restaurants in the area. Our two big luncheons of the year are the Founder’s Day Luncheon in October and the Installation Luncheon in June. |
Socials Twice a year, we get to dress up a bit, grab our husbands, partners or other guests, and gather together with other Newcomers for the Holiday Social in December and the Spring Social held in late spring. From time to time, other big group socials will be added to the calendar during the year. In the past, some of these events have included a Wine Country Excursion, a Progressive Dinner, and some very special Cocktail Parties. |

Bay
Area Excursions From the orange-red splendor of the Golden Gate Bridge, to the dark, cool cellars of a winery, and the grand floral gardens of Filoli, this group has extensively explored the Bay Area. Our plans this year include touring the Monet Exhibit at the Legion of Honor, the Benzinger Winery, Chinatown, Grace Cathedral, and Symphony Hall to name only a few. Come with us to learn about your new home town area! After most of our excursions we enjoy a lovely lunch together in the area. |
Book
Club If you enjoy reading and talking about all sorts of different books and authors, have we got a group for you! You will have fun reading and discussing a wide range of books in the home of one of our members. This is a great way to add diversity to your reading list and to share your reading experience. Many book selections are chosen from the New York Times bestseller list. |

Bridge Tricks, ruffs, doubles, and contracts. Is this familiar language to you? Those of you who love to play bridge are definitely in the right place. The Newcomers’ Club offers several different levels of bridge groups. So many of our members enjoy this popular game that you will surely be able to find people to play at your level no matter what that might be. |
Bunko Anyone can play and enjoy this rousing dice game held one evening a month in the home of a member. If you only want to play once in a while, we would love to add you to the list of substitutes. |

Community
Outreach To help others and to give back to our community is the focus of this group. Our group members volunteer in a variety of ways to help local charitable organizations. Our projects have included making Easter Baskets for St. Vincent de Paul, cooking for Fresh Start, and working with Bay Area Crisis Nursery which included adopting a family during the holidays the last several years. |

Lunch
Bunch At this monthly activity the hostess prepares the main course, supplies the drinks, and set the theme – everyone else brings all the rest of the meal. This year, we have had fun with the member-inspired food themes of the Super Salad Days of Summer, Grandma’s Best, Picnic Basket Favorites, and Thanksgiving Redux, among others. We share recipes (this group boasts a ton of great cooks and dessert makers!) and hope one day to compile a cookbook. |

Night
Owls Take an evening off just for yourself—you know you’re worth it—and join other Newcomer members for a fun-girl’s-only-night-out. We often enjoy movies with dessert afterwards or a nice dinner in a local restaurant. |
Scrap-Booking Scrap-booking is a national craze, and our members are practically experts at it! They meet at various Scrapbooking stores in the area as well as in member’s homes to crop photos, paste up, and journal, while visiting with each other and learning new techniques. If you are new to this activity, you will enjoy some very willing teachers to help you get started on this ever-changing art, and if you are already a pro, you will be in great company. |
